Tekoa Museum Collection
The photographs in this collection are primarily taken from the photo album collection in the museum dating back to the early 1880s. The main focus of the collection is the early days of Tekoa and its subsequent growth, the area agriculture, and railroad construction. Other photos include people, businesses, and events, including the political visits of William Jennings Bryan and Theodore Roosevelt.
Also included in this collection are larger items from the museum such as portrait drawings of residents, some town plat maps, and a photo of Miss Irene Hoare and a series of images of the hat she wore in the photo. The museum contains many items from homes and businesses in the area as well as a display featuring Mildred Bailey, a locally born woman who became a well-known jazz singer. A few items from this display are included in the digital collection from the Tekoa Museum.
